Our coffee

Our great tasting, signature House Blend speaks for itself. 100% Arabica, roasted to perfection and ready to impress:

"Rich, Smooth and simply Delicious"

Working with the fantastic team at the roastery, we created our signature House Blend to work just as well in a rich, creamy espresso as it would be in a milk-based offering or whipped up quickly in a trusty AeroPress.

It’s a big, full bodied coffee offering, with naturally sweet but bold caramel notes. A lovely and smooth coffee with a velvety mouthfeel and no bitter aftertaste.

The Bean Belt

Coffee beans are actually the seeds of cherries that come from coffee trees. These coffee trees grow all over the world in countries on/ near the equator such as Brazil, Colombia, Ethiopia, Kenya, India, Indonesia and Sumatra. The area where coffee grows best is known as the bean belt.

Because of the different micro climates where different coffees are grown; Arabica has many ‘so called’ varietals such as Typica, Bourbon and Caturra. Each varietal has its own unique characteristics and tastes.

At The.Coffee.Collective. we use 100% Arabica beans, as we believe this coffee produces a much more delicious cup of coffee.

Premium quality coffee

Specialty Coffee is not called 'Specialty Coffee' simply because a fancy machine is used to brew it or because it is imported. It is actually categorized as a premium quality coffee because of the standard of quality of coffee beans. The quality of coffee beans is evaluated based on the score-sheet of Specialty Coffee Association (SCA). This scoresheet is devised considering the five things into account, i.e. the Aroma, Flavour, body, Aftertaste and balance of the coffee. Only coffee beans with 80 and above points are categorized as specialty coffee.

Unlike commodity coffee, all Speciality Coffee cherries are harvested and sorted by hand and even though there are 2 'Beans' per cherry, it takes around 25 cherries to produce a single cup of coffee! Once the cherries are picked they are processed. The processing of the cherry has a big impact on the flavour. You can dry or wash the cherries or a variation. These factors will contribute to the final flavour of your coffee.
